Description

Design drawing titled "Drop Lid Desk of Mahogany" rendered in watercolor and pencil. Perspective view is shown. Chippendale-style fall-front desk has rectangular case with hinged drop front above three drawers; two bail handles with bat-wing plates on each drawer; shaped skirt; rear bracket feet; and front ball-and-claw feet. Desk is shown with fall-front lid opened. Interior has concave prospect door with carved shell flanked on each side by three pigeonholes above a convex curved drawer and a concave bank of two drawers with carved shell above. Title is handwrittten on drawing. Embossed on lower left side is "Irving and Casson / A. H. Davenport Co. / Boston - New York."
