"Console Table and Mirror "F""

Description

Design drawing titled "Console Table and Mirror "F"" with two views. Front view of mirror and table is rendered in watercolor and pencil; top plan of table is in pencil only. Queen Anne-style rectangular mirror has wood frame; arched and shaped crest; and Prince of Wales feather carved within pierced circular medallion below crest. Neoclassical-style console table has serpentine front, half-serpentine sides and canted corners; overhanging top; fluted apron with carved swag in center plaque and oval medallions at ends; and four fluted tapered legs terminating in block feet. Title, dimensions and design notes are handwritten in pencil. Also handwritten are "5272" adjacent to mirror and "5271" adjacent to table. Embossed at lower left corner is "Irving and Casson - A. H. Davenport Co. Boston - New York." A note on the reverse is dated 1961 and states that the drawing was removed from "the White House file;" however, it cannot be determined if pieces were actually made for the White House.
