"Bureau of Teak & Gold"

Description

Design drawing titled "Bureau of Teak & Gold" rendered in pencil and colored pencil on trace. Front view is shown; plan of top is also provided. Rectangular dresser has bowed front; overhanging top; backboard with concave corners; four drawers with bail handles in a two-over-two arrangement; key escutcheons on lower two drawers; straight skirt; square front stiles with molded edges; and tapered cylindrical feet with cuffs. Gilded rectangular mirror frame has arched pediment and carved fruit basket at top and is attached to dresser by two fluted round columnar supports with ovoid finials and carved acanthus leaves at bottom above rectangular blocks. Title, design notes, "J. B. W. / Feb. 25 - 1907," "Mirror 3173 / Bureau 2129" and "Made for Mrs. C. H. Starkweather Orders 46238 Mirror / 44375 Bureau" are handwritten on drawing.
