Chippendale-style desk has hinged slant-front which opens to reveal an interior writing surface, drawers and pigeonholes; two lopers with round pulls; two drawers, one of which is designed to look like two drawers; key escutcheons and bail handles with bat-wing plates on all drawers; molded lower edge; ogee bracket rear feet; and ogee brackets with ball-and-claw feet in front. Title, design notes, "For F. B. Knowls, "Det 4740" and "Interior Det. / May 12 - 1903" are handwritten on drawing.
