Design drawing titled "Arm Chair of Walnut" rendered in ink on trace. Front and side views are shown; top plan of seat and partial side view of side chair are also provided. William and Mary-style arm chair has pierced rectangular crest rail with carved central crown flanked by foliate scrolls; conforming lower back rail; rectangular caned back with carved sides similar to crest and lower back rails; turned spiral twist stiles surmounted by floral-carved rectangular blocks and crown finials; curved arms with scrolled handholds and carved acanthus leaves; turned spiral twist arm supports; trapezoidal caned seat with foliate-carved seat rails; turned spiral twist legs with rectangular blocks at junctions with seat and stretchers; floral carving on front rectangular blocks; curving carved front feet; turned spiral twist H-stretcher; and large front stretcher with carved crown flanked by foliate scrolls. Title and design notes are handwritten on drawing. Small portion of following stamp remains on lower left corner: "To be returned to / A. H. Davenport Co. / 96 Washington St. / Boston, Mass."
