"Late XVII Century Chair"

Description

Design drawing titled "Late XVII Century Chair" rendered in ink on trace. Perspective view is shown. William and Mary-style arm chair has ornately carved crest rail; oval caned back panel within carved frame; conforming carved lower seat rail; stiles with vasiform, ring, and bulb turnings; shaped arms with scrolled handholds; scrolled arm supports; narrow straight seat rails; shaped rear legs with scrolled toes; cabriole legs with scrolled toes; carved X-stretcher; and large carved front stretcher. Carved decoration is very ornate and includes scrolls, quatrefoils and foliate motifs. Title, design notes; "Det. 11714," "J. B. W. / May 29-1907" and "Det. by R. B." are handwritten on drawing.
