"Desk Chair of Mahogany"

Description

Design drawing titled "Desk Chair of Mahogany" rendered in ink on trace. Front view is shown. Arm chair has oval back with leather upholstery and single row of metal tacks along perimeter; shaped flaring stiles; straight arms with upholstered pads; continuous curved arm supports; seat with serpentine front, leather upholstery and row of metal tacks along front upholstery edge; raked rear legs with casters; carved acanthus leaf tops above fluted tapered round legs and cylindrical feet with casters. Extensive carved decoration includes molding on back rim; bowknot ornament at top back; foliage on lower stiles; bellflowers on arm supports; foliage on seat rail; rosettes on seat rail front corner blocks; and bellflowers on legs. Title, design notes, "(copy of old French chair)," "Stock . C. C. Walker / 49390." "922" and "E. D. Adams" are handwritten on drawing.
