Neoclassical-style arm chair has shaped crest rail with raised middle section; splat composed of five narrow slats with rectangular plaque at middle of center slat; carved swags at top of splat and extending down to below arms; square stiles; curved arms flowing from top of stiles with rounded handholds; curved arm supports; seat with over-the-rail upholstery; raked square rear legs; and tapered square front legs with spade feet. Chair is painted black and has extensive painted decoration including gold accents and striping on crest, splat, arms and arm supports, stiles, and legs; urn on center splat plaque; quatrefoils on seat corner blocks; and acanthus leaves above blocks. Title, "11278" and "J. B. W. / Mar. 7 -1907" are handwritten on drawing.
