Description

Embroidered sampler on white linensd. Wide polychrome border of flowers, leaves, and nuts enclosed by guilloche vine. Repeating triangular secondary border encloses larger motifs of flower baskets, deer, fruit basket, dog, and leaf sprigs. These surround script: "HOPE / when I can read my title clear / to mansions in the skies; / I bid farewell to every fear, / And wipe my weeping eyes. / Let cares like a wild deluge come, / And storms of sorrow fall; / May I but safely reach my home, / My GOD, my heaven, my all." Molded black painted wood frame with gilt inner edge. Under glass.
