Description

White clay body w/ green celadon glaze. Vase or modified rounded club-shaped form w/ a swelling bulbous body w/ circular foot, tapered neck and wide circular mouth w/ dished inverted rim. Applied gilt to dog handles at neck. Polychrome overglaze decoration in rose palette. 3 roses at inside rim. Exterior w/ overall butterfly and insect motif w/ a scene in blue and gilt at front of clouds w/ dragon and dieties at top and w/ sampoon? and laborers at bottom (represents heaven and hell? or earth).
