Description

Of long rectangular form. The off-white ground paper is mounted with a dark brown paper. This is printed with stylized floral forms, dots, two stripes, a rectangular reserve of red silk and gilt metallic thread fabric enclosing a black printed deity. The figure is further enclosed, above and below, by narrow appered strips of green and gold brocade fabric. The hanging is suspended by braided cotton blue and white string attached to two small loops. The end is rolled around a paper covered wood bar.

Inscriptions
In ink on the back is: A 'kake-mino' or hanging picture from 'Arakia', one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Japan. One of the Gods. Printed on the front are six Japanese characters.
