Alphabet/Verse Sampler. Large balloon like flowers in pots and rose bushes at bottom. Alphabets: #1 missing "J"; #2 "A-W", missing "J"; cross stitch, eyelet hole, chain stitch.

Label
The balloon-like flowers in large baskets are typical of Marblehead-area sampler designs. Miriam Alley lived her entire life in Lynn, Massachusetts. She may have attended school in nearby Marblehead or a Marblehead-trained instructor moved to Lynn and opened a school using similar patterns and techniques.
