Description

This pair of stays is covered in wool embossed with a vermicelli or moire pattern on the fronts and lower, front side sections. The sides and back are made from a brown (possibly green that has faded) textile. Each seam is covered by narrow green wool tape. The channels for the boning and all other stitching was done by hand. It displays leather edging on both edges. The waist ends in a series of tabs. The stomacher is embellished with non-functional laces. The stays lace up the center back, with the handsewn eyelets set for a spiral lacinig pattern. Lined with undyed linen.
