Description

Square lidded "fancy" box made from ash splint and sweetgrass. Body and lid of box are woven from thin ash splints alternating with "diamond" curlicues and sections of braided sweetgrass wefts. The lid and box have bundled sweetgrass rims held in place with single ash splint lashing. The box body front has an ash splint-wrapped ring attached near the lip. It possibly had a matchinig ring attached to the lid, similar to 1934.2987. The entire box may have been swabbed pink, but it has faded and is only faintly visible on the exterior of the diamond curls. Lid is separate from body, but there may have been hinges at one point.
