Description

Black-and-white photograph of three Neoclassical-style side chairs. One chair (#744) has molded shield-shaped back with serpentine crest; pierced splats of five ribs with papyrus tops radiating upward from base; molded curved stiles; seat with serpentine front and over-the-rail upholstery; raked rectangular rear legs; and tapered square front legs with spade feet. The second side chair (#775) has shield-shaped back with serpentine crest; curved stiles; pierced splat with Gothic tracery motif; upholstered seat; straight seat rails; raked rectangular rear legs; and tapered square front legs with spade feet. The final side chair (#7969) has an oval back; splat in the shape of a very large painted Prince of Wales feather motif with carved drop shell below; shaped stiles; seat with over-the-rail upholstery; raked rear legs; tapered square front legs with spade feet; and painted or inlaid bellflowers on front legs. Handwritten notes on page include abovementioned A. H. Davenport Co. detail nubers and wood types.
