Textile Panel

2001.281.1268 (RS242471)

Description

A single curtain panel made from block-printed cotton in a repeating pattern of a pine tree on a small grassy mound. Smaller scattered repeats of hillocks with vegetation surround the main design element. The plain woven cotton was printed in shades of yellow and brown then penciled with indigo for a brighter green. The panel was finished with a woven wool and linen tape edge. A twentieth-century woven tape was applied to the top edge of the panel to reinforce recently added shirring. \n
