Historical/Biographical Note

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Works, Office of Bridge Engineer designed this bridge to cross overhead Essex St., Gloucester Mass. Titled the "Northern Circumferential Highway," this drawing actually refers to the MA 128 (also referred to as the Yankee Division Highway) over the MA 133.

The bridge was completed in 1948 and is currently called the "Essex Avenue Bridge," open to traffic.
