Scrapbook -- Memorials, Carvings

Untitled scrapbook. Scrapbook has red fabric cover and is held together by twine laced through six eyelets. The number "21" is handwritten on spine. Scrapbook contains 50 pages which are partially unbound. The bulk of the materials are clippings from 19th century and 20th century periodicals, catalogs, and magazines, such as "Arts and Decoration," "House and Garden," "Country Life," "Good Furniture," "Furniture Age," 'The Architectural Forum," and "The American Architect." TThe majority of the clippings depict a wide variety of objects with memorial carvings including bas-reliefs, tablets, metal floor slabs, souvenir inkstands, mausoleum panels, sculptors, medallions, headstones, Celtic crosses, murals, monuments and plaques. The memorial carvings cover a wide variety of events, from the founding of the Weston Public Library to traditional memorials for those who have died in war. Most of the plaques are from between the 17th century and the 20th century. Collected loose in the front are pages from "Country Life" (June 28, 1924; July 26, 1924), "Architecture" (July 1920), and "The American Architect (April 15, 1914). These articles contain images of Church of the Intercession (New York, NY); St. Andrews's Church (South Pasadena, CA); and St. Thomas's Church (New York, NY) which include work of Irving and Casson and Irving and Casson - A.
