Description

Design drawing titled "Bed of French Walnut Made for C. Vanderbilt" rendered in pencil on trace. Front and side views are shown. Rococo Revival-style bed has tall arched headboard; low footboard and side boards with shaped skirts; and four short cabriole legs with ovoid feet. Bed is elaborateily carved including central shells, palmettes, scrolls, and foliate motifs on headboard, footboard and side boards, and palmettes and scrolls on legs. Title, design notes, "Chamber 9," "11482" and "Order 28053" are handwritten on drawing. Also written is "J. B. W. Feb. 19 - 1907."
