Description

Design drawing titled "South-East Elevation" rendered in pencil and watercolor. Drawing shows one wall of a room with a fireplace centered on the wall, flanked by two arched built-in display cabinets. The room features eleborately carved decorative elements in a Neoclassical style. These include a carved crown molding with urns and palmettes; garlands and swags framing a rectangular tablet above each cabinet; a chair rail; and large base molding. Walls are blue; wainscot is beige; trim is white. Each arched cabinet displays a variety of ceramics or glass objects on four shelves and has a glass front. Fireplace wall projects out from the back wall. Fireplace mantel has two flanking columns decorated with bellflowers and an elaborate frieze with swags, garlands and rosettes on either side of a central panel. A large painting in an ornate frame hangs above the fireplace. Painting depicts a city seen from the water which may be Venice. Title, scale and "J 4810 12 x 16 A" are handwritten on drawing. An elevation depicting the southwest wall of the same room is CC011.001.001.001.001.002; the northwest wall is CC011.001.001.001.001.003; andt the northeast wall is CC011.001.001.001.001.004.
