Subseries C, Papers of other Otis family members, 1774-1922, undated (bulk, 1824-1861) (#4.13-4.19, 5.4-5.5, OB.1.7, OB.5.9), contains affidavits, correspondence, invitations, poems, site plans, statements, tax papers, wills, and other papers belonging to other members of the Otis family including: Elizabeth (Boardman) Otis (1796-1873); Harrison Gray Otis, Jr. (1792-1827); James Otis (1702-1778); James William Otis (1800-1869); Mary Smith (Gray) Otis (dates unknown); Sally (Foster) Otis (1770-1836); and William Foster Otis (1801-1858). Also included in the subseries are several 1861 certificates administered by Elizabeth (Boardman) Otis (1796-1873) to members of the Committee on Military Donations, an organization that provided goods to the Union soldiers during the American Civil War (1861-1865). Correspondents included in the correspondence of William Foster Otis (1801-1858) are William T. Andrews, N. Bowditch, B.R. Nichols, Joseph Smith, Henry S., W. Sohier, W.G. Stearns, E. Tucker, J.H. Wilkins, and Thomas Worcester. The subseries is arranged alphabetically by surname, and thereunder chronologically; when applicable, women are identified by married name.
