2001.281.1200AB (RS198219)

Description

Wallpaper fragments attached to two matching wallboard fragments from the John Wing House, Sandwich, Massachusetts. The first layer of wallpaper is a block-printed pattern of small, green medallions with stylized floral centers stand surrounded by gray curling figures, pin dots and stylized flowers on a light gray ground (1820-1830). See additional sample of this paper 2001.281.490. Three other papers are affixed to the first layer, but do not overlap with each other: a floral pattern roller-printed in pinks and violets over tan and white pinstripes (1835-1845); unprinted paper with light green ground; and a paper with cross-hatch pattern and pin dots roller-printed in liquid mica on cream ground (1900-1910).
