Subseries B, Printed material, 1821-1884, undated (#1.2, C.3.33-C.3.59, C.4.32-C.4.34, OB.1.4, OB.2.6), contains almanacs; books; catalogues; encyclopedias; gazetteers; journals; newsletters; newspapers; pamphlets; tracts; town warrants; and other publications and fragments of unidentified publications, belonging to unidentified family members who inhabited the Parson Smith Homestead in South Windham, Maine. The range and scope of the items within the subseries include such works as Routledge's Etiquette for Ladies; the Annual Catalogue of the Maine Female Seminary Gorham, Maine; John Hay's, Nicholson's Carpenters' Guide (containing architectural diagrams, drawings, and sketches), published by George Virtue; the Constitution, By-Laws and Rules, of Ligonia Lodge, Number V, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Portland, Maine; Rand, McNally and Company's, Encyclopedia and Gazetteer; sermons transcribed by C.E. Barnes and published by the Advent Christian Publication Society; the Maine Journal of Education; and others. Also included in the subseries is a map of Portland, Maine, showing the portion of the city that was destroyed by the 1866 fire and a map of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway's "Great Rock Island Route." The subseries is arranged alphabetically by title of publication, followed by maps, and then followed by publication fragments.
