Description

Two fragments of flocked border from the Captain Snow House, Provincetown, Massachusetts. One fragment [A] appears to be a corner and the other [B] is a straight edge affixed to sidewall (see 2001.281.969.1). Fragment [A] has a stylized urn and flower figure placed at a forty-five degree angle to the corner. Beside it are finial figures. Along the edges of both border fragments runs a band with scallops and dots. The edge pattern and figures are block-printed in metallic gold, dark red and peach on ungrounded paper. The rest of the border is covered with green flocking with branch and sprig figures overprinted in light and dark green.
