Description

Fragment of Renaissance Revival style wallpaper from Middleton, Massachusetts. Typical of Renaissance Revival stripe patterned papers, this paper has central medallion-like elements placed between two stripes. This particular pattern incorporates roses and vertically trailing ribbon. Block-printed in tan, gray, green, maroon, two pinks and two blues on polished white ground. Gray and tan color appear to be painted in stripes on the same block as transition from one color to the other is obvious on the leaves and ribbon areas of the pattern.
