Thank you for your amazing website! The Nathaniel Stebbins photographs are a treasure. Thought you might like to know that the woman in the Sumatra is its owner, Miss Alice Sargent, daughter of Professor Charles Sprague Sargent (Arnold Arboretum) and sister-in-law of architect, Guy Lowell. Miss Sargent, sailing the Sumatra and wearing the same hat, is pictured in the 8/1/1909 Boston Herald, page 24. Miss Sargent was the first "woman skipper" of her day.
