Description

Wallpaper fragment from Barnstable, Massachusetts. Stylized Neoclassical pattern of Medallions and Squares. Block-printed on handmade paper. Squares containing a design of an urn with quatrefoil, leaves and swans alternate with squares of a foliate sunburst composed of geometric elements. Printed in green on white ground. The individual pieces of paper (six in various sizes) that make up this fragment are arranged with no regard to pattern direction. \n
