2006.44.3680 (RS171062)

Description

Woven coco leaf fan with handle from Hawaii. Fan constructed using classic weaving techniques. Large strips of coco leaf are woven and twisted to create a pattern of wider strips at the bottom and then split and twisted into smaller strips at the top. A double row of small openings, created by twists in the leaf, runs horizontally across center section of fan. The top edge of the fan is irregular with four crown-like extensions.
