Description

Of simple country form with a rectangular hood with a glazed door opening to a painted wood dial with roman numerals, a lunette decorated with trees and grass and polychrome rainbow strips in spandrels. The case has a rectangular thumb molded door that has a single wood knob, and a raised molded edge panel at the base. It is grain painted in red and ochre and has wooden movement. Inscriptions
In pencil on the inside case door on the gear is a listing of the cleanings and repairs done to the clock. Written on the inside of one of the wooden wheels reads: September 18, 1821/ John Perkins/No. 67/ J P 73/Fitzwilliam, N.H. It also has a ""Hamlet"" quote on the inner part of the works: To die - to sleep/ Perchance to dream aye there's the rub/ For in that sleep of death what dreams/may come/ When we have shuffled off this mortal coil/Must give us pause/ B 67 - September 5th, 1821/LXVII
