Description

Large wooden bow with bowstring, possibly from the Solomon Islands or Tonga. The bow is flattened and painted black on one side. The bowstring is made of what appears to be twisted hair or plant fiber. The bowstring is attached at either end with fiber that has been twisted, wrapped and covered with resin. The bow would have been used for hunting or warfare.
