Inscriptions
"Material from Berwick/ I don't know how long this has slept in the Berwick house, or if/ it is, as I think (underlined) I was told, pieces of Indian muslin. I can certify/ that -- cut very little, to save it for future use -- it was successful as/ window curtains with top ruffle in the #269 living room, which faced/ north. The light came through somewhat, yet it was heavy enough to hang/ as drapes. The several rows of maroon thread came at the bottom. Was it/ ever washed? Dry cleaned? It has not weakened in all the years at #269,/ or in Berwick beforehand, and has not changed color since I first saw it./ It must be hand woven, and made to be hung." (paper label)
