Arm Chair

Description

Windsor fan-back chair. Serpentine crest with high, well-carved scoll ears. Vase turned rear stiles, turnings having long thin necks. Seven spindles and possible walnut arms with elbow and well-carved knuckles. Saddle seat with incised line around all elements of back. Turning of legs match that of arm supports, plain tapered foot. Bulbous center stretchers in "H" pattern, medial has 2 rings. Brown paint with evidence of previous green paint. Modern pencil inscription under seat states "Gibbs"
