Auction for the John Hancock House, "All the materials of the Old Hancock House, of Revolutionary fame, on Beacon Street, consisting of red cedar, oak, joist, hard wood finish doors, panellings, carvings, windows, blinds, floorings, &c., comprising many antique curiosities, and materials to be manufactured into many useful and ornamental parlor mementoes." Auctioned on June 26, 1863 by Sprague & Tappan, auctioneers.
