Teacup, handless with circular footed base. Transfer printed blue on blue eagle and shield pattern with Boston harbor in the distance around body. Blue floral and scroll border around inner rim. Eagle and shield printed on interior bottom of teacup. Circular spot of dark blue ink just above eagle's head.
One of many views of the early United States highlighted in the online exhibit "Patriotic America."<br/>
A reputed distant view of Boston Harbor with the center subject a large spread winged American Eagle perched on a rock above an American Shield. Although there is no proof that this is indeed the view it is purported to be, it is a beautiful view which varies from piece to piece as regards the buildings pictured and the number of ships in the harbor.
