Description

Mezzotint of three-quarter length portrait of a white haired man with a long tailed, dark colored coat, light vest and a ruffled white shirt. A curtain is pulled up behind him, a sword handle rests on his left hip and the Federal constitution is in his left hand.

Inscriptions
Printed beneath title: ""Hail! Noble Chief! Protector of the cause of purest Freedom Founded on the Laws."" At the very top of the backside of the print is written: ""This is the man of whom Ben Franklin said he was always honest, sometimes great, but often mad."" This same saying is repeated twice more on the backside of the frame.
