Red stoneware, of cylindrical shape with straight spout and squared handle, ring on lid handle; blue, green and yellow opaque enamel decoration of flowers and dragon with rather geometric rim decoration.
1) Impressed on bottom underside: seal & characters [see accession file]. 2) Label on bottom underside: ""NFL"" 3) Label inside lid: ""Chinese stone / ware from estate of / Capt Oliver Lane / Annisquam / 1825-1850"". 4) Typed note inside (now in accession file): ""Chinese enameled teapot, Yi-hsing. / Brought to Gloucester by Capt. / Oliver G. Lane during the first / half of the 19th century.""
