Description

An ice wagon, a hand pulled cart and pedestrians pass by the Old North Church on Salem Street. An inset portrait of Rev. William T. Smithett is in the upper right corner, engraved after a daguerreotype by Southworth and Hawes. A couple walks under the awning for the John Alden Groceries store at 164 Hull Street. The article lists the clergymen associated with Christ Church from its founding to Rev. Smithett. The page is from "Gleason's pictorial drawing-room companion," July 2, 1853, vol. 5, no. 1, whole no. 105, page 177.
