The caption reads "Built by John Sheldon, 1686. Escaped conflagration when the town was destroyed by the Indians, Feb. 29, 1704. Taken down, 1848. Daguerreotyped by Popkins, in 1848." Below the image it reads "B.F. Popkins, Photo., G.W. Mark, Pinxt."
