Description

This picture postcard features an aerial view of the South Boston Army Base, dry docks, and loading docks in South Boston, Massachusetts. The view also encompasses the residential areas near these facilities and Boston Harbor. The base opened in 1919 and closed in the early 1980s, replaced by the Massport Marine Terminal. The printed inscription reads: "Largest dry dock in America. Longest loading dock in America."
