Family Album early 1920s

Description

The album contains 159 black-and-white photographs of various sizes, hinge mounted, many mounted three or four together, a few bent and creased, a few loose. Individual photographs are dated between 1913 to 1925.

Earlier photos depict family groups; photos from the middle years appear to represent campus life with numerous group pictures of young women and a photo of a subject in cap and gown. The last few images depict small children and a portrait of mother and child. In between are numerous domestic scenes from the early 1920s, a few are captioned "Davis Estate," "Lake Pleiade," and "the Castle." Women's costumes depicted are stylish but informal, with one particularly striking image of a young woman in bathing costume. Hats and hairstyles of the period are of interest. Family pets depicted include cats and dogs. Vehicles include horse drawn carriages and a 1915 convertible automobile.
