Bed jacket

2006.44.1312 (RS11447)

Description

Cream knitted bed jacket with pink kitted details and pink ribbons with elbow length sleeves. The jacket is knitted in an afghan-like pattern of horizontal bands. The shoulder and chest areas are decorated with pink threads woven through the cream knitting. A wide pink ribbon weaves through the knitting all along the edges of the neckline, down the front opening edges and around the bottom edges. At chest level, two pink ribbons are horizontally sewn to the inside on either side. There are also pink ribbons woven around the bottom of the sleeves and tied in a bow at the top of the edge. There is a looped fringe that hangs below the ribbon along all of the edges. On the back, the ribbon on the neckline connects in a bow. The pink thread woven into the cream knitting continues on the back and appears as a square panel ending just above the shoulder blades. The ribbon weaving continues on the back of the sleeve edges and bottom edge, as does the cream looped fringe, which also forms a sort of "collar" effect along the neckline.
