Evening gown

2006.44.1255 (RS11829)

Evening gown with an apple green velvet skirt and green voile bodice. A square cut neckline and a band of beading across the chest. The center of the beaded panel has a large teardrop shape made of rhinestones. The sleeves are elbow length and consist of several layers. The under layer is a beige voile with netting at the cuffs. The over layer is a green voile with two tassel shaped beads at the corners. The gown has a high waist and a two layer skirt. The top layer has a rounded edge and is slightly shorter than the square cut bottom layer. The ankle length velvet skirt is faded and the top layer is extremely dirty. The back of the bodice has beading down each shoulder and ending at the sash at the high waist. The velvet over-layer is cut in a triangle shape so that it exposes the fitted under layer. Hanging from the sash at the high waist is a beaded and weighted sash that ends at the back of the knees. The back of the skirt and bodice are closed by snap buttons, the silk under layer has hook and loop closures.
