Description

Brougham, four wheeled enclosed two door carriage with coachman's seat. The rubberized wheels and lower body panels are painted a dark Brewster green with black striping. The upper panels and roof are painted black. The driver's seat faces a leather dash and there is a wooden whip holder and one end of a speaking tube attached to the right edge of the driver's seat. The carriage rests on elliptical springs on the front axle with French platform springs and c-springs on the rear. The brougham has six windows - one in each door, three along the front wall, and a circular one in the rear. Each door has an oval metal handle and attached leather fenders to prevent water or mud from entering the carriage when the windows are down. The brougham has a pair of lamps marked: "JV Waldron & Bro. Makers 2 1098 Boston Mass." The interior has not been restored and has russet colored leather seats. The bench seat has two removable cushions and there is an attached folding child's seat. There is russet colored satin tufting on the sides, back wall, and ceiling. The satin shades for each of the windows are spring loaded. There is a net headed speaking tube to the right of the bench seat. The door panels and edges of the seat cushions are decorated with russet colored seaming and coach lace. There are leather calling card cases mounted on each door. There is a button on the front wall of the carriage that rings a bell under the coachman's seat. The front wheels of the carriage have brakes. The front wheels are smaller in diameter than the rear. There is a detached wooden hitching pole with a metal end. The pole is panted a dark Brewster green with black striping.
