"The Liberation of St. Peter from Prison"

Description

Interior narrative scene showing grid prison bars silhouetted against bright light of angel awakening St. Peter in cell. Sleeping soldiers on steps at either side. Double-doored crypt beneath cell. Urbanscape with a quarter moon is visible in background. An arch frames the scene with inscription: "Raphael in aedibus santius vatica pinx nis." Engraving copied from Raphael painting--1513-14.
