Description

Hinged slanted top conforms to shape of base, Form is basically rectangular w/ ovolo corners. Edge of lid has cock-beading. Edge of top surface of lid has about 1/4" of mahogany inlay w/ flanking stringing. Vertical edges have similar treatment. Base is slightly molded. Box sits on three brass ball feet. Lid has small plate of silverplate w/ ring for lifting. Fancy escutcheon over shield shaped plaque w/ engraved upraised armored hand holding truncheon. Lid has inlaid conch shell. Interior fitted w/ grid for cutlery is inlaid. Six-pointed star inlaid inside lid.
