Historical/Biographical Note

This photograph was taken in 1886 before the sale of the house to Arthur Lyman (also in 1886). A note on the back explains that the mantel shown is an original Appleton mantel, and then the Lymans moved this Appleton mantel to 60 Beacon Street in the 1940s.
