Description

Large, rectangular format picture of a woman, shown half-length, facing left. She is wearing a close-fitting cap with a ribbon tied under her chin. She has gray eyes, wears a black dress with elbow sleeves that have a cuff and ruffle and kerchief. She holds a white fabric that suggests sewing. On a gray background and in a gold frame that appears to be a liner for a larger frame.

In pencil in the upper center of the canvas backing reverse is: Done - September the 4th 1780. As per NFL ""in apparently contemporary pencil"".
