Woodstock Fair celebrates 150th anniversary
September 4, 2010
Over Labor Day weekend the Woodstock Fair celebrates its 150th anniversary. Each year tens of thousands of people come out to enjoy all the fair offers, from its rides, games, and music to farm animal exhibitions and creative talent competitions.
Roseland Cottage participates in the fair with an information booth, which is often a popular stop for visitors who are amazed at the model house made in the likeness of the cottage. The model was built by Craig Provost and won best in show at the Woodstock Fair in 1997. In 2004, Mr. Provost donated the model to Roseland Cottage. Most of the year, the model is a fixture in the Roseland visitor center, but each year it travels to the Woodstock Fair and draws attention. Visitors to the information booth have a chance to see Historic New England’s centennial video, pick up information about upcoming programs, including the 28th Annual Fine Arts and Crafts Festival, and receive discount admission coupons for Roseland Cottage.
