Welcome summer interns
July 5, 2010
Summer brings a wealth of young talent and enthusiasm to many teams at Historic New England. This summer, thirteen interns, including undergraduate and graduate students and recent graduates, are volunteering their time, skills, and energy in exchange for the opportunity to work with the organization’s extraordinary collections and learn from professional curators, archivists, fundraisers, and preservationists. Students from Wellesley College, the Harvard Extension School, Boston University, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Ecole du Louvre (Paris, France), University of Colorado, and the University of Illinois are among this summer’s cohort of interns. Their projects include assisting with projects in the library and archives, cataloguing object collections in the Collections and Conservation Center in Haverhill and Phillips House in Salem, researching cultural landscapes, assisting with fundraising and membership projects and events, researching the Plum Island Airfield for an online exhibition, and compiling data for the property care team’s energy retrofit project.
