Vintage Base Ball teams travel to Cooperstown
The Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm Vintage "Base Ball" team, the Essex Base Ball Club, along with the Ipswich Brewers, represented the East Coast division in Cooperstown, New York, as part of the Ommegang Brewery's annual championships on June 11 and 12. Historic New England Regional Site Manager Bethany Groff went along as a spectator, or "crank," and enjoyed a weekend of sunshine, vintage base ball, and beer.
Both the Brewers and the Essex Base Ball Club are working towards a spectacular Father's Day game back on the Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm in Newbury, Mass., on June 19, featuring Red Sox great Jim Lonborg.
